Filing a police report or reporting a concern online saves time by allowing citizens to complete a report at a date and time of their choosing with no waiting and without leaving their home. However, not every crime can be reported using this online system.  In Emergency situations, such as a crime in progress or someone is hurt, threatened, or in danger,  please dial 9-1-1 immediately. 

1. Filing a False Crime Report is a crime under 720 ILCS 5/26-1(4) in the Illinois Compiled Statues.

   Please note: (1) A person commits disorderly conduct when he/she knowingly transmits or causes to be transmitted in any manner to any peace officer, public officer or public employee a report to the effect that an offense will be committed, is being committed, or has been committed, knowing at the time of such transmission that there is no reasonable ground for believing that such an offense will be committed, is being committed, or has been committed. (2) A violation of this section is a Class 4 Felony which can result in fines and/or imprisonment.
